Day 1-Traveling to Scotland

Meeting at the Airport & our Transatlantic Flight


Our flight information has been received!   We will be traveling from Dulles Airport to Glascow with a stop at London's Heathrow Airport.


Interestingly enough, Heathrow Airport had some workers on strike recently!   Lets hope things go smoothly & there are no disruptions during the time we are flying through London.

British Airways

The group will be flying on British Airways.  BA has over 100 years of flight history that has evolved over the last century.   Check out BA's history broken down by decades!

Our Plane!

Our flight over the pond is schedule to be on a 777!   The 777 is one of the biggest commercial planes in the skies!   The Boeing site & a wikipedia entry for the 777 talk about the design which can hold a larger load of passengers in it's wider cabin.  

"It can accommodate a ten–abreast seating layout and has a typical 3-class capacity of 301 to 368 passengers, with a range of 5,240 to 8,555 nautical miles [nmi] (9,700 to 15,840 km; 6,030 to 9,840 mi). Day 9-Goodbye Edinburgh-On the Way Home

 Goodbye Scotland The trip home is about to begin!   We will be saying goodbye to Scotland to head back home!   Our layover at Heathrow will be longer this time, but still not quite enough time for us to explore London!  It would have been especially awesome if we would have had a chance to visit Wimbledon ! Day 6-Inverness/Loch Ness/Edinburgh

 Day 6-Inverness, Loch Ness & Edinburgh  Today we began our journey to the final stop on our Scotland Tour, Edinburgh.  But first we had a few other Scotland Bucket List items to check off.   The day started off by leaving the Highland Hotel where many people had  trouble getting a good nights rest because something had them feeling unsettled.  Did I mention the place reminded me a lot of the Shining's Overlook Hotel?   I walked down the drive to get a picture of the full building so you could appreciate it's age & resemblance to the Stephen King/Stanley Kubrik creation.  Maybe some of the eerie atmosphere came from the burnt out building or old church just down the street.           Inverness/Loch Ness Today's  first stop was Inverness for a boat ride on Loch Ness . Day 2-Glasgow

 Day 2-Glasgow   Photo: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jimnix/6963320000 Glasgow is a city that does not get as much mention as Edinburgh, but it has so much to offer!  I love the way one of the resources at Carroll Co Public Library described it:  "OFTEN OVERLOOKED IN FAVOUR OF ITS SHOWIER MORE HISTORICAL NEIGHBOR EDINBURGH, GLASGOW IS AN EXCITING CITY WITH LOTS OF HISTORY, CULTURE AND CHARACTER." * Today, we were met at the Glasgow International Airport by our Tour Director, Rosie Roberts!  We received a guided tour of the City & were given a wealth of knowledge of the city's people, culture & it's rich history.  All the travel guides & travel websites say that all visitors must stop by the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum .  For those back home you can get an idea of what we saw by looking at the floor map & also the tour guide brochure .
